The Reasoning.
I remember sitting with a friend of mine, before I became a photographer, who was about to ask his then girlfriend to marry him. We were browsing the internet and we ended up searching through wedding photography sites. In the end, we saw the work of dozens of photographers who we loved, some we thought were just nice, and some that were, frankly, just not that good.
I think back to that day often, and sitting on the other side of the creative fence as a working photographer, I wonder what people think when they come to my site, on their trek through photography websites in search of someone to capture their special day or event.
I do not believe in time-clock contracts. I will never understand how an event that means so much to those involved can somehow be refined into a narrow definition of a specific time period or number of photographs type of agreement. When your event starts, I will be there capturing the big moments, the little moments, and the times inbetween when everyone holds their breath in anticipation of the next moment.
I call this "The Photographic Story."
A written story can be told over time with a myriad of information to build the tale, bringing joy and pleasure to the person reading it. As a photographer it is my job to bring that same careful crafting into telling a beautiful story with images rather than words. You are the authors of your story and it is my job to record it in images that inspire you and others.
It is my job to help create memories, ideas, and passion for your story. It is my job to bring your story to life for years to come.
The Advice.
When choosing a photographer, the best advice I can give is to meet your potential photographer. Personality and attitude are just as important in choosing the right photographer as the images on a portfolio website. A photographer who can put people at ease, and work comfortably around your friends, family, and teammates, will give you the best results. Therefore, I am happy to meet with prospective clients at a time of their choosing, so we can begin building a personal relationship that will put you at ease and let us work together to tell your story.
The Prices.
My participation begins and ends when you say it does. I do not believe that the creative process can be constrained by a limited time period, and so if your event starts at 8am, I will be there early for setup and will work until the story is told to our satisfaction. As a photographer, I am there to help guide the moments into the beautiful photos while making sure to allow them to happen naturally, keeping the flow of your story on the course it will take all on its own.
